Gerald McCoy: I’ll never say anything bad about Tampa
The tides may be changing for Gerald McCoy, but the Carolina Panthers' newest acquisition wishes to be certain that the record is straight on his time as a Buccaneer.
On the latest edition of the RapSheet + Friends podcast, McCoy took a moment to peel the curtain back and address his tenure with the Bucs, amidst various reports coming out in recent months regarding his connection with the company that introduced him on May 20 after nine decades of service.
"Lots of people think that I, I don't understand, turned my back on them or disrespected them. I'll never do that. I'll never
say anything bad about Tampa. I'll never say anything negative about Tampa," McCoy told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. "It doesn't matter how long was said about me; it'll never be reciprocated because I know that company changed my life and the time I had there was great.
"The fans, all the coaches I experienced, all the players I experienced, my whole time in Tampa was a joy and something I will never forget. But what happens for a reason and my time in Tampa simply came to an end."
McCoy went on to emphasise his thoughts on devotion, saying that, while he'llnever forget his former team, he's a Carolina Panther now and that his new team will get"all Gerald" in every aspect. In addition, he made sure to highlight NFL greats such as Warren Sapp and Randy Moss as gamers that made a lasting legacy with their original team before leaving for greener pastures and maintaining their standing as game-changers.
McCoy may no longer be in Tampa, however, as long as the production remains there in Charlotte, he must not have any trouble crafting a brand new identity as a member of the Panthers' defensive front.
